October 2008

Congratulations to Eastbourne School Instructor KSN Ben Zarif, who has just arrived back from the Kuk Sool World Championships held in Houston, Texas, with a lot to celebrate! Competing in the 2nd Degree Black Belt championship and pitting his skills against approx 25 other competitors from all over the world, he was placed in the top four, in all five of his competitions, winning five medals in all. However, his crowning glory was the coveted gold medal for swordsmanship, making him the world champion in that category. Well Done!


Kyo Sa Nim BEN Zarif

Master Philip D Holmes, who accompanied Ben on the trip to the USA, said that it was a tremendous achievement for Ben to win a gold medal at such a high level of competition, and shows that the years of commitment he has shown in perfecting his martial art skills has earnt him a golden reward.

At the same event, Kuk Sa Nim Honoured Master Philip D Holmes with promotion to 7th Degree Black Belt.

Eastbourne Instructors Robin and Sam have arrived back in the UK, after spending the past 6 months studying Kuk Sool Won in S. Korea.

Welcome to the Kuk Sool Won of Eastbourne's brand new and updated website. We do hope you enjoy the new look and feel of the website, and that it will continue to give you interesting and thoughtful information about this amazing traditional Korean martial art.
Many thanks and appreciation goes to Dan Bo Nim Richard Stewart, from the Kuk Sool Won of Cambridge School for all his efforts in creating the new website. He is now an honorary member of the Eastbourne school. This means that when he visits the school, he will probably get double the amount of press-ups more than regular members to make him even stronger - we really do show our appreciation to people who help the school!
On our new website, you will find most pages have been updated and some others still in preparation. We will try our best not to keep you waiting and get these pages up and running ASAP. Look out for the full, uncut version of Master Philip's ‘History of Kuk Sool Won’ as published in the international martial art magazine ‘Tae Kwon Do and Korean Martial Arts’ in the Feb, March and April 2002 editions of the magazine.
